Environmental Outing #4

Frost Art Museum

I was invited to the grand opening of the new Frost Art Museum but I wasn’t able to make it, so I made it a point to go see it as my environmental outing. The Frost Art Museum is at the FIU’s main campus in front of the blue garage. The building is absolutely gorgeous. It’s a modern 3-story building, a beautiful architecture.  When I walked inside, they greet you and they tell you about any new and featured artist they have at the time, and if you have any bags they also check that in as well.  When I went there was a featured artist by the name of Andrew Reach. I really liked his work, it was all digital prints, but the way he he worked the shapes and colors it was beautiful. My favorite work of his was called Out Of My Mind (which is the photo I attached). I was also really impressed, that museum had a lot of loans from the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Overall, the museum is modern & abstract artwork, but very beautiful. Its free admission to the public for now, but will be free for any FIU student. It is def something to stop a look at if your at main campus.

Supplementary Item #7

My number one item on my Christmas list this year is the Louis Vuitton Bowling Monogram Etoile Handbag. It just came out into the Market, and is on a waiting list. When I put my name down on the waiting list they told they were only getting in like one or two every 2 weeks, so that it would be a few months before I could get the bag, its been a few months so I’m hoping for this month I could get it.  Louis Vuitton has never had a handbag that looked like this specific model. They have never had quilted leather, which is a first. I just really wish I knew what is it that makes the handbag so expensive besides the brand name. One thing that I do love about Louis Vuitton is that you have a lifetime warranty with all their products. My strap on my first ever Louis Vuitton in the 7th grade broke, when I took it back they put a brand new strap on it, without any questions.  I just really hope I get this for Christmas.

Being the first advertising course to take at FIU, I was extremely nervous. I had no idea what to expect from the class. It was intimidating, considering that it was a classroom filled with classmates who are nearly close to graduating. I had heard that the class would be different and interesting, and that I would love it. I was also told that this class would broaden my creativity.

In the beginning few weeks of the class, I realized that I was going to learn a lot more than I thought. Especially when I thought to myself that I wouldn’t struggle in the class because I think of myself as a creative person. Well I sure was in for a surprise; when I was given the task to create as many items as I could think of with an orange cone. I was completely stumped when I couldn’t think of more than 3 items. I was also very impressing on how creative my classmates were. I was just overall impressed on the thoughts that came from each and every single person in the classroom.

An interesting project that we had to do was out Very Creative Person (VCP).  I was put to the test when I had to come up with a person who I thought was creative. I decided to go with Andy Warhol. I had always heard of him, but wasn’t exactly sure what he was famous for. So when I researched him, I realized that he did the famous paintings I’ve always seen. Especially when I have even taken photos that look the ones Andy Warhol created.

One of my favorite parts of the class was when we had to do our environmental outings. I was put outside of my comfort zone to do things that I have never done before. They were fun and different. Even though one of my environmental outings has caused me to gain weight, which was Coldstone. I also flew in a 4-seater jet plane to the Bahamas, which I had always said I would never do, and did, and not to mention had a great time.

I can actually tell myself that I’ve gotten stronger as a person. I see my self as being able to open up mind and think outside of the box, which in the beginning of the course I found extremely difficult. The main thing that I learned in this class is that there are different ways of being creative and expressing yourself creatively.  I honestly enjoyed this class; I had a great time, met wonderful creative people and learned beyond belief!

Supplementary Item #6

Crocs… either you love them or you hate them. I, love them. At first, when they first came out a few years ago, I didn’t like them. I thought they were ugly and not to mention tacky. I used to say I would never be caught dead wearing a pair. Then I started working at a diagnostic facility, where I had to wear scrubs as my uniform everyday. As months went by I started to notice that more and more co-workers had crocs on. I asked them why they liked to wear crocs, and they told me that they were extremely comfortable.

Since I was always on my feet, and running around the office constantly, I decided to try out a pair of crocs. I went to dolphin mall and purchased a pair of hot pink crocs, but I didn’t just wear my crocs plain. I wore them with the accessories you can stick in the holes of the crocs called jibbitz, which I decorated with rhinestones and hearts. After that day, I fell in love with my crocs. They were very comfortable, but I admit they aren’t very attractive, but I made sure mine were very stylish and not to mention very comfy, I never wanted to take them off.

One thing I do love about my Apple MacBook is the IChat feature. It is one of the reasons I purchased my MacBook. The best feature about IChat is the fact that you could video chat with anyone who has a web cam on their computer. When you video chat with Mac users you have the option to do different effects with the pictures. You can make some nice pictures making them black or white, and even sepia or making yourself look like if you were in an actual comic book, but then come the ones that make you look funny, and make yourself double, and the effects completely transform the way you look, to the point that it makes you not even look like yourself. I have over 200 weird looking pictures of me chatting with my friends from when were bored. I also really like it because it’s a way of showing your creativity and personality. I am extremely happy with my MacBook and the features it has, that no other PC has.
